Styling a night party dress into casual wear Fashion trends move on very fast like ex-boyfriends (right girls...) and as trends move, a lot of new apparels are being introduced. We buy these new apparels while replacing the old ones. The party dress shown here was trendy a few years back and I saw many girls wearing this style for proms and evening parties back in the mid to late 2000s. These days you'd probably pick an off-the-shoulder floor length evening dress for proms or evening parties. So... what do you do with the old ones? Turn 'em into your everyday casual wear! I love experimenting with my clothing pieces so I mix and match them to create fresh looking fashion pieces while being able to save money to buy more clothes! Here's two how-tos in styling your party dresses and transforming them into casual wear. Old or new, these tips can be applied to any party dresses as long as it feels right to your eyes and skin. Bring out your individuality. After all it's all about being adventurous with layering! 1. Layering crop top overLayer your favorite casual crop top over and opt for flats or sandals to match that casual look. Layering a crop top on a fitted mid-length dresses works out great as well. This look is perfect for casual outings with friends or family. Go large for your bags if you have some errands to do in between. I personally wore this look for a movie outing, with some errands in between. 2. Straight neckline to scoop necklineNeckline detail is important as I found that most times it decides a dress' character or style. The dress I'm wearing here has a straight neckline. In other words, strapless. There are a lot of formal parties that calls for a strapless dress and they're essential for most evening occasions. So I layered my scoop-neckline crop top over my dress to get my outfit to look more casual. You can always go for other types like square necklines or boat necks. I opted for a black crop top to match the color of my dress to create that one piece illusion. You can always layer your flannel or denim jacket on top to get that casual vibe. You can match the outfit with sneakers or wedges if sandals are not your thing.
